Batting first, Tickhill got off to a flyer with their opening pair both retiring on 25. Good bowling and fielding from Goole brought them back into the game as Ed Hasdell, Luke Stevens and Finn Tomlinson all took wickets. Tickhill ended on 118 from 20 overs, leaving Goole a tricky chase in good batting conditions. Goole got off to a good start with Brad Gardiner and James Steele opening up with a partnership of 26 before Gardiner was bowled for 18. Steele was joined by Josh Barnes and the scoring continued until Steele was dismissed for 12. Barnes and skipper Ed Hasdell pushed the score along and both batsmen managed to get to 25 where they retired. Goole were now on 80 for 3 and needed 29 runs from 6 overs, which was a difficult chase for the two new batsmen Finn Tomlinson & Luke Stevens. Tomlinson was stumped for 8 with the score on 102 leaving 17 to win from 3 overs. Stevens went on scoring and he was well supported by Ollie Chappell. With one over left Goole needed 7 runs to win. A well run 2 after an over throw, left 5 runs from 5 balls and a further scrambled two brought Goole within one hit of a win. Stevens obliged the very next ball by lifting the bowler over square leg for 4 to complete Goole’s win by 7 wickets. An excellent batting performance gives Goole hope going into their final matches of the season.
