The U11s entertained Adwick le Street on Sunday at Westfield in the league. Goole won the toss and asked Adwick to bat first. Good bowling and fielding from all the team meant that Adwick struggled from the off. Early wickets from Cairan Mell and debutant Cairan Smith dented the batsmen’s confidence and when Lewis Wigglesworth took two more in the fourth over Adwick knew that they had a hard task ahead. They consolidated somewhat as Connor scored a quick-fire 20, which included three sixes, but normal service was resumed two overs later as Lennon Wilson took his maiden wicket for the team. This was quickly followed by two more wickets from Callumn Nutton, who ended with a very respectable figures of 3 overs, 1 maiden, 9 runs for 3 wickets and Thomas Franks who wrapped things up with two tight overs, taking two wickets for two runs. Adwick scored 228, which was a little below par for the day.
Goole in reply got off to a decent start with Franks and Smith scoring 22 in their partnership. Sam Wood and Lewis Wiggleswoth lost one wicket, but still managed a good total of 18 as did Mason Moran and Callumn Nutton who scored 14. Flynn Ullathorne led the way in the fourth pair by scoring an excellent 29 in a partnership of 34 with Thomas Marritt. This total alone was enough for Goole to win and although Cairan Mell and Lennon Wilson lost three wickets, their net total of 16 was enough to make sure that Goole would win comfortably with some way to spare. Goole finished on 304, which was their highest total of the season. Next Sunday the 11s are away at Bawtry and also play Bentley at home in the cup.
