In their first match of the season the U15 Girls team came up against a very strong Rockingham Colliery side in round 1 of the 8 a side T20 U15 Lady Taverners Competition.

Facing a side with 6 Yorkshire players in it Goole girls gave their all but came out on the loosing side.

After being put into bat the openers Lois & Evie weathered an early spell of accurate bowling from the Rockingham openers with Evie falling in the third over and Lois falling not long after in the fourth over.

A four over partnership between Jessie & Lauren helped steady the innings with Jessie hitting a lovely cover drive for four runs before they both fell in the 8th & 9th over.

Jess and Naomi faced some tight bowling from the Rockingham spinner before there was a mix up in the ninth over, which saw Jess run out.

Eden was unlucky to be bowled by a ball that moved in from outside off and with Pippa joining Naomi they battled hard until the end of the eleventh over when Pippa was caught.

Jessie topped scored with 8 run and Naomi with 6 runs.

The Rockingham innings got off to a lucky start following a good catch by Lauren was ruled out by a No Ball from Naomi's first ball.

The Town girls battled hard defending a small total with Jessie taking a good caught and bowled in her first over to remove one of the openers.

Skipper Lois came onto bowl and almost had an immediate breakthrough when she had a ball bounce over the middle stump of their batter.

A tidy spell by Lauren slowed the run rate down and with good spells from Eden and Pippa and some great keeping from Jess kept the run rate down.

The girls continued to bowl and field well throughout the allotted 20 overs, with a juggled catch by Lois from the bowling of Naomi late on in the innings.

The girls showed great team spirit and enjoyment throughout - Great Effort All of them.
