Dringhouses 1XI - 116 all out - Goole 1XI - 117 for 8 - Goole make it two consecutive wins after beating Dringhouses on Saturday

Goole are now 40 points clear of second placed Carlton. After last weeks win Goole came into this fixture in a confident mood and after choosing to field upon winning the toss made a pleasing start as Dringhouses only put on 5 runs for the first wicket. Opening bowler Guy Richardson took the first wicket after a catch by wicket keeper Ben Earl dismissing Wilson (4) and he carried his good form on by eventually taking 3 wickets for 50 runs in another great bowling spell from the promising teenager. The next 9 wickets fell cheaply for 111 runs as Dringhouses were bowled out for just 116. 15 year old Alex Wood took a good catch on his first team debut to dismiss the dangerous Green (25) but Ben Lamb who bowled exceptionally was the architect of the Dringhouses downfall to take 5 wickets for just 19 runs in 12 overs with Kevin Murphy supporting him well to take 2 wickets for 23 runs from 7 overs. Goole got off to decent start with the bat as Earl (11) and Anthony Gibbins (10) both made reasonable starts but Goole soon found themselves under pressure as the first wicket fell for 18. Both Earl and Gibbins were been to be out early in the innings but this allowed Oscar Sugden (15) and teenager Guy Richardson to form a useful partnership of 30 to take Goole to 48-3, when Sugden was dismissed. Richardson continued to bat maturely, top scoring with 37, but he lost skipper Murphy for 3 which began a good partnership with Ashton Nottingham to take Goole to 83-5 when Guy departed. Bottom club Dringhouses sensed a opportunity and even more so when Nottingham (12) and Louis Sugden (0) quickly followed at 93-7. Alex Wood walked to the middle with the pressure on his young shoulders but his nerves were not in evidence from his very first ball as he smashed a full ball straight at the close in fielder who tried but failed to take evasive action! This was backed up with his second ball that Wood powerfully hit to the cover boundary for four important runs as Goole edged closer to victory. When Alex’s innings came to an end, it was left to the experienced Dave England (18) and Jason Greaves (1) to get Goole over the line and the full 30 points were Goole's. On Saturday, Goole entertain 3rd placed Driffield at Westfield which promises to be another close encounter and another nail biter for the spectators.
