Goole travelled to South Holderness on Saturday looking to keep up their impressive run of late. Goole won the toss and elected to bat first on what looked to be a good wicket to post a good score.

Goole started the innings brightly but lost their first wicket early with the score on 39 as Oscar Sugden fell for 21 after looking bright in the start of his innings. This then brought Scott Thorpe to the crease and he and Ben Earl put on a great partnership of 69 to take Goole to 108 before Thorpe departed for a composed 26. The drinks break then brought the fall of the next wicket of Earl who played a brilliant innings of 51 with the score on 108 still with the fall of 2 wickets. Goole would go on to put on a great score of 238 all out thanks to a great innings from the in-form Ashton Nottingham who hit 56 and Will O’Donnell making 36 to take Goole to a competitive total to defend.

Goole came out feeling they had a total of defending and knowing that the bowling attack they possessed could see the team home. Goole struck early thanks to some brilliant bowling from Matthew Cooper who claimed the first wicket of the game and left South Holderness on 17-1 and Cooper would gone on to take 3-51 in the innings. Goole then had to work hard to get the next breakthrough as the second wicket partnership for South Holderness put on 56 before James Kerr broke the partnership and claim his only wicket for the day (1-31). This then brought a flurry of wickets for Goole as South Holderness were then bowled out for 144 and claim their 4th win in a row. With the other wickets taken for Goole by the ever-impressive spin duo of Ben Lamb (3-18) and Thomas Marritt (3-44) both now on 30 wickets for the season with still 6 games to go.

Goole now welcome Sutton-On-Hull to Goole this coming Saturday to see if the run can continue and keep pushing towards the promotion places.
