Narrow Win for Academy

The Academy prevailed in a very close match at North Ferriby on Sunday. Asked to bat first they posted 158-9 from their 40 overs with Jason Greaves 43, Matty Cooper 25 & Ollie Ounsley leading the way with the bat. In reply North Ferriby looked likely to coast home as K Donaldson scored 93 taking the home team within a sniff of victory. Good bowling from Declan Eastwood, 3-30 and Stephen Thornton 3-16 dragged Goole back into the match and with 1 over to spare Ferriby needed just 3 runs to win. The issue against them was wickets as Goole had taken 9 and needed one more for victory. Good tight bowling meant the equation was now 3 runs from 3 balls and it was Goole who prevailed as the final wicket fell before Ferriby could get over the line. An excellent performance from Goole sees them move up to 3rd in the table and only 6 points behind Welton in 2nd place.
