Academy XI win again!

Youngster Thomas McGrath led the way with his maiden 50 in senior cricket against Welton and Brough on Sunday. Batting first, Goole junior McGrath and veteran Jason Greaves both scored 52 in the 1st innings and they were well supported by the rest of the team, notably skipper Ollie Ounsley (28). Goole pushed the score to 199-6 from their 40 overs, which was their highest score of the season and at tea it looked a very competitive total.

Welton & Brough in reply struggled from the off as the young Goole attack got stuck into the task of taking 30 points from a vital match. Tight bowling up front from the Goole openers set up a good win as the visitors were dismissed for 109 with a ball to spare in their innings. Globber was the only batsman to make an impression on the total by scoring a belligerent 31. Ollie Ounsley led the way with the ball bowling an excellent spell taking 6-28.

Goole's win keeps them in 11th place from 12 teams in Eastern Conference Division 3, however as only 18 points separates them and Hull Zingari in 6th place there's plenty of time for their position to change in the coming weeks, especially if the performances continue as they did this weekend.
