Goole 2nd XI began strongly against Castleford in their friendly on Saturday. After winning the toss, Jason Greaves asked Castleford to bat. The Castleford openers began well scoring at 4 an over from the first 10 overs. Goole's Scott Thorpe removed one of the openers after a well judged catch from Franks and the other retired after 15 overs of a well played innings. Goole controlled the innings after that taking regular wickets, with Ashton Nottingham taking 3 wickets and Jason Greaves 2. Castleford made 117 all out from 38 overs and Goole were happy with the run out in the field where all the bowlers bowled a number of good overs.
After 3 overs of Goole's reply the rain came and curtailed the match. It was unfortunate as Goole looked well set as Nottingham and Jake Mahoney set off by scoring 23 from 3 overs.
A good workout in the field was all the 2nds took out of this match, but with a friendly next Saturday against Walkington they will not be too concerned about the lack of time in the middle before the season begins in 2 weeks.
