Derby day for 1s & 2s look to bounce back from relegation

The fixtures for the York & Senior Cricket League are now available on our website www.gooletowncc.co.uk and mobile App (Pitchero Club). With only 5 weeks to the start of the season, here's a quick update from Westfield and GTCC.

The 1st XI have a mouthwatering start to the season on April the 27th with a local derby against Carlton Towers who also narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League in 2018. Both teams shared the spoils in 2018 with Town winning at the Fishpond and Towers responding with an excellent win at Westfield. The following weekend is a busy weekend for the 1s as they host Clifton Alliance at Westfield on the 4th May, travel to Pickering in the cup on the 5th and then host Heworth on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 2nds are now led by Neil Foster and they are looking to make an immediate return to Division 2 after relegation last season. They have two tricky away ties in their first two outings with trips to Acomb and Carlton Towers 2s on the 27th April and 4th May respectively. The 2s first home match is on the 11th May when they face Castleford at Westfield.

Goole Town Academy will once again look to blood the future talent of the club on Sundays in the York Senior League Conference. The team this year will be led by Guy Richardson and after many high points from 2018 he will look to build a team that can compete more regularly with their more experienced opponents. The Academy will start with a trip to Beverley on the 28th April, followed by a home match with Drifflield on the 5th May and an away trip to Sutton on the 12th May.

Junior fixtures will be release shortly and a further announcement will be made when they are on the website and app.

The club will hold indoor training at Goole Leisure Centre until the week beginning 15th April where it is hoped that they will be able to move outside from the 16th.

There will be a Natwest Cricket Force Day at the club on the 6th April where the club needs support of its members and supporters to help tidy up and get the club ready for the new season, which is approaching rapidly. If you can help on this day, please arrive at the club from 9am and come ready to do a little bit of manual labour.
