The Under 13's took on Askern on Sunday and completed an easy win. Losing the toss Goole were asked to bat on a very green wicket, which could have caused issues had the Askern bowlers been able to take advantage of the conditions. As it turned out Goole's openers of Thomas Franks and Ciaran Mell made things look relatively easy after a few early scares and they proceeded to put on 91 for the 1st wicket inside 14 overs. Mell made a diligent 22 from 40 balls in the partnership with Thomas Franks who hit 50 not out in 46 balls, with 10 of his scoring shots coming from boundaries. The youngster is not 12 until June and his maiden half century was a target for him this year after narrowly missing out last season by scoring 41 for the under 11's. The achievement was well received by the crowd at Askern as Franks went to 50 with a 3 successive 4's and a single to mid wicket. A good innings of 16 from Ollie Sugden finished the innings off for Goole as they posted their highest total of the season, 128-2.

In reply Goole's bowlers did their jobs well and put pressure on the Askern batsmen. Early wickets from Thomas Marritt and 3 in one over from Callum Nutton pegged Askern back and they never looked like getting near Goole's score as they collapsed to 13-7 after 9 overs. Two superb catches from Jessie Wood and a wicket followed, as did a good catch for Nutton and a further wicket to give him 4 in total. Jack Merrington popped in to take a wicket in his first over and Sam Whittall took 2 wickets to end the innings on 38 in the 17th over.

The match will be remembered for a long time in the Franks household and it is hoped that this is the start of something for young "TAF"in the years to come.
